As 2014 enrollment comes to a close, the industry must create more innovative solutions that further educate and inform the next group of enrollees.

America’s insurance companies, private corporate exchanges, healthcare administrators, and the state and federal exchanges should be proud of what they achieved during ACA implementation. Historical shifts have been accomplished in this healthcare enrollment period, even with the back-end systems integration challenges.

At the same time, there is so much more to do to ensure Americans have access to affordable healthcare. The fundamental shift in the way people interact with technology means that better, more effective use of technology upfront is urgent – particularly to reach young people who are a critical component of these exchanges. They are smart, tech savvy, and mobile.

It is clear from this healthcare enrollment experience that people want to understand and control the process as much as possible, including the device they use to research and enroll. People want self-service options, and they want help when and how they need it.

For the next healthcare enrollment period, mobile apps will likely take first place in facilitating sign ups. Intelligent Virtual Assistants like CodeBaby support and personalize the decision-making process, saving meaningful time and money for providers and consumers alike.
